Ref. No.: r-korfu-brave-m-0524 Note: Emergency - Wheelchair Dog Update August 2025: Superhero wanted? Here is Brave! He is about 4 years old, full of life, friendly with all dogs – and rolls through life with his "turbo rear" full of energy. Outdoors, he uses his wheelchair – indoors, he doesn't need it. His hind legs are there, and he even uses one leg to push himself. With physiotherapy and muscle building, there is real hope that Brave will one day be able to walk again. But even if not: He manages. And how. Brave can do everything other dogs can. He plays. He cuddles. He loves. Just with a little extra. Social, friendly, brave – a true hero on wheels. His superpower? Stealing hearts. Quietly. Charmingly. Now he just needs one more thing: a home. Update January 2025: Brave is still waiting for his home - it would be wonderful if he finally found a great spot! Outdoors, he happily moves around with his wheelchair, and indoors, he moves without the wheelchair. Apart from his disability, he is actually a very uncomplicated, friendly, and good-natured fellow :) May 2024: Our shelter worker Wilma was alerted by villagers to a dog that couldn't walk on a mountain. On site, she found Brave - a young dog with broken hind legs. His condition was terrible - Brave could only move with his front legs, and his hindquarters were all scraped up, with the flesh missing down to the bone on one leg. Wilma took care of Brave in her home, and in the meantime, he was operated on, and the flesh has grown back over the bone. He has another operation ahead to further improve his situation. Despite everything, Brave is the happiest wheelchair dog you can imagine. He is a happy, super-friendly dog who gets along well with his wheelchair. Brave loves cuddles and is good with other dogs. Brave is estimated to be 3-4 years old, about 45cm tall, and currently weighs 13kg. He deserves to finally be seen and to find a loving family forever! All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, and have an EU pet passport. Brave has patrons from Erkrath since January 2025, who support him with 25€ per month - thank you very much.

I-Nr.: r-korfu-brave-m-0524 Bemerkung: Notfall - Rollihund Update August 2025: Superheld gesucht? Herzen stehlen. Ganz still. Ganz charmant.

About Brave

What life with Brave looks like

Brave is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. in Ratingen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brave, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brave?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brave on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brave if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Brave already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brave isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierhilfe Korfu e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brave and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
