Britānijas tipa kaķi

Mixed Breed · Male

In April, from a flat in Rīga, Pārtikas un veterinary dienests confiscated 27 cats who had been living alone in their nests for a long time. The animals belonged to an officially registered and seemingly responsible breeder, but in recent years something had changed – the living conditions provided for the animals had become catastrophic, and their numbers had become abnormal. Cats were found dead in the flat – dogs, decorative birds… Now, all the cats have been taken in – they have all been sterilized, vaccinated, microchipped, and chipped. Only two cats are still undergoing treatment: one runt has a problem with its spine, while another female cat, after the vet's examinations, has autoimmune disease, causing ulcers around her eyes. These two cats are not being offered for adoption, but the rest have already found their families. How would you describe these charming little ones? They are completely trustworthy, you know. Cats, with one runt exception, still find their way into their own. They are not afraid of people and allow them to pet them. Most of the female cats are a bit "grumpy" – that is, if they don't want to take a prettier tablet or allow a post-sterilization clip, they will fight until the males are more submissive and obedient. Taken in off the streets, most do not fight. At the same time, it's hard to see how these once wildlings would play with each other even a little – they don't play with people either – they allow them to cuddle and everything. Their days are spent lying around lazily, looking at us with a slightly sly look – wonder what you need from me, human, to come back to you. Perhaps this is their special trait. It's more likely that, in homes, in normal living conditions, where owners are present and cuddle them more often than in the shelter, they will quickly regain trust and dependence. We recommend adopting these cats to those familiar with the shelter or at least to people with experience living with cats. We've included a few cat photos, where, we think, you can see their current attitude towards life… The cats' age ranges from 2 to 4 years old, one runt is around 7 to 9 years old. Again: all are sterilized, vaccinated, microchipped, and registered.

About Britānijas tipa kaķi

What life with Britānijas tipa kaķi looks like

Britānijas tipa kaķi is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Labās Mājas in Riga.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Frequently asked

Adopting Britānijas tipa kaķi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Britānijas tipa kaķi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Labās Mājas handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Britānijas tipa kaķi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Britānijas tipa kaķi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Labās Mājas will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Britānijas tipa kaķi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Britānijas tipa kaķi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Labās Mājas early rather than rehoming privately; they know Britānijas tipa kaķi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
