Britta (Branla)

Mixed Breed · Female

Name: Britta (Branla) compatibility with others: Gets along well with fellow animals, cat compatibility: Not known, cannot be tested as no cats live at the animal shelter. Current location: animal shelter Pirot (Serbien) Reason for surrender: Britta is an insecure and still reserved female dog who needs time to trust people. She is very friendly with humans and gets along well with fellow animals. She has lived in the animal shelter since she was a puppy and has only known life behind bars. We are looking for people with experience in dealing with anxious dogs who can bring a lot of time and patience. Britta is such a great female dog that she has no chance in Serbia of ever leaving the animal shelter. She suffers greatly from being confined 24/7. There are no dog walkers or volunteers, and there is no state help. It would be ideal if she could be rehomed with existing fellow animals that can help her orient herself initially. She is very compatible. A securely fenced garden for dogs should be available. Her new home should be quiet and rural; being in the city would overwhelm her. Gets along with other dogs. Gets along with other cats.

About Britta (Branla)

What life with Britta (Branla) looks like

Britta (Branla) is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Pföttchenretter mit Herz e.V. in Leichlingen.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Britta (Branla), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Britta (Branla)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pföttchenretter mit Herz e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Britta (Branla) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Britta (Branla) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pföttchenretter mit Herz e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Britta (Branla) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Britta (Branla) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pföttchenretter mit Herz e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Britta (Branla) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
