Adopt Broki

Mixed Breed · Male

Temperament: Broki is a young German Shepherd. Brokat is a cheerful, very energetic dog. He is always on the move, rarely stops. He loves digging, playing, and running. He has a very big appetite, willingly cooperates with people for treats and learns new things. When he gets to know someone, he values physical contact and cuddling. He is a sensitive dog, with difficult experiences from the past, which is why Broki reacted strongly to many things - other dogs, baby strollers, road work, walking at dusk, or meeting unfamiliar people were very difficult for him. In such situations, he would run away or try to scare away the stressors. He is now much more confident, although he is still a very sensitive dog. He should not live with children. He needs a lot of support from his caregiver, looking for someone who will take care of his well-being and will not have exaggerated expectations towards him. Broki should live in a quiet area - without heavy traffic, which is stressful for him, with close access to green areas. Broki goes for walks on a long leash, where he can spin his impressive circles at full speed. Broki feels comfortable in rooms and knows perfectly well what the sofa is for. He would find it easier to adjust in a house with a garden, but he would probably also manage living in an apartment. He is looking for a home as a full-fledged family member, needs close contact with humans. It would be best if there were not many people in the family, and the routine was as stable as possible - he really needs stability and predictability. Broki does not feel safe in contact with other dogs, he avoids them. There is a noticeable improvement in this area, he is able to pass other dogs during walks. Perhaps over time he will feel more confident in closer contacts with other stable dogs, but for now he is looking for a home as the only dog in the family.

Usposobienie: Broki to młody pies w typie owczarka niemieckiego. Brokat jest pogodnym, bardzo dynamicznym psem. Wszędzie go pełno, rzadko się zatrzymuje.

About Broki

What life with Broki looks like

Broki is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Broki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Broki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Broki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Broki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Broki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Broki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Broki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
