Brontë

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Brontë has been unavailable for a little while as she had her glow up! She has come a long way with her training but will still be a bit shy when you first meet her. Once you’ve met her a few times, you’ll start to see her bubbly, playful and super cheeky personality come through. She is reactive to other dogs but has made great progress on this and may be able to make some dog friends. Brontë will really suit an active home with people who are keen to learn some great training techniques and have the patience to keep her on the right tracks as she finds her paws. If you’re looking for a dog who is super playful and ALWAYS ready for the next adventure, then meet Brontë! She’s a medium sized, 5yr old Crossbreed who is bursting with life! She’s spent a bit of time with us so she will need time to settle into a home environment, but she’ll be well worth it. She is loving, fun, playful and has been ACING her training. She’d now like to place her order for a forever home again and would like to request being the only dog and only pet in the home. She has too much love to give her people, to be able to share with other pets! She’d also like some adults and maybe some fun (and sensible) teenagers around to play with her as much as she likes! Bronte has a lot to say when she first meets dogs, but with her consistent training, she’ll be a pleasure to walk!

About Brontë

What life with Brontë looks like

Brontë is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs Trust Leeds in Leeds.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Previously reactive to other dogs, needs ongoing training and patience to settle into new home

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brontë, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brontë?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Leeds handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brontë on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brontë if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Leeds will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Brontë already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brontë isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Leeds early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brontë and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
