Brook

Border Collie · Male · Young · 2 years

Brook arrived to the shelter with his humans, who said they cannot have him anymore, now that the wife is pregnant, they need to move and Brook cannot come. He arrived to the shelter with a perfect beautiful fur but nervous and not able to concentrate. In the shelter kennel he was of course very sad, confused and stressed - luckily he had the chance to go a foster home with another collie, but the foster home is only available for a short period of time. His foster home already knows him quite well, and here is their description of him: Brook is a healthy, happy Border Collie with a lot of energy. He loves to play with balls and chew toys. Like common for the breed, he is a very intelligent dog and learns new things and commands fast. Brook is ideally looking for a home with previous Border Collie/working dog experience, and ideally with another similar dog, with who he can enjoy walks and daily physical & mental activities - his physical and mental simulation is important for his happiness, calmness, balance. He tends to start running around in high tempo if not stimulated enough, “nibbling” his owner asking for something to do. Brook is looking for an active human, who is interested in dog sports, training, agility. Brook responds immediately to recall, even when he is very excited. (We thought “Brook” is a difficult name, so we have used a nickname “Theo”, which he started to respond to almost immediately). He lives together in our home with another male Border Collie. They get well along now, in the beginning it took some time to get used to each other, mostly because Brook tended to be too intimate, sniffing and nibbling the private parts of the other dog, not giving private space to the older dog. Also, there was some jealousy reactions in the beginning, but not anymore. Brook sleeps in the same room as the other dog, on the floor, which is the coldest place now in the summer. The dogs are fed separately. In our home, the sofa and bedroom is for people, and not for dogs. Once we said “no”, Brook fully understood, and sticked to the rules. Generally, he is very attentive, taking most instructions, reacting fast. Good boy!! Brook walks nicely on the leash, on the side, not pulling. Most dogs he is meeting on the streets without issues, only to some males he has reacted by barking. In the beginning he reacted to car sounds and noises, probably because his stress levels was quite high, and he tended to be a bit nervous and easy to scare. This has changed significantly: he is now relaxed with most sounds and noises, and his behaviour is more balanced and calm. However, he still barks to some motorbikes, and is anxious about fireworks noises, like most dogs. Brook is a dog that connects very easily and very fast to his humans. If given enough attention and mental and physical training, he would be the best dog in his new forever home. His shoulder height is 55cm.

About Brook

What life with Brook looks like

Brook is a medium-sized young adult border collie dog waiting at Triple A Marbella in Marbella.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brook, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brook?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Triple A Marbella handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brook on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brook if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Triple A Marbella will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Brook already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brook isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Triple A Marbella early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brook and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
