adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process BrÖSel has found a home! His story: Often life plays out differently than we think. Due to separation and a new environment where dogs are not officially allowed and which no longer suits BrÖSel, we are now searching for a nice retirement spot for the senior. BrÖSel was finally able to travel in August 2024 after many years in the shelter Baia Mare and has developed well in a family. Even with the first-time mother dog, who initially did not accept him, everything eventually worked out well. BrÖSel is a low-maintenance dog. He doesn't require long walks, but he does enjoy a garden where he can stay, because he likes to be outside. Although he knows how to use a leash and collar, he no longer likes long walks. He prefers to sniff around the garden, lie in the sun, and let the good man be. BrÖSel is, of course, house-trained and can also be left alone. His owner thinks he is younger than what the papers say. So he would be 15. He can climb stairs, jump on the sofa and back down, and enjoys cuddles there. His teeth are not as bright white anymore and are in an age-appropriate condition. He doesn't like chaos, but rather calmness. He gives wide berth to unfamiliar dogs, and with children, he keeps his distance. When he is unsure or shows respect for something, he takes a step back and sits down. Then, he needs to be gently and confidently brought along. BrÖSel also travels well in the car, although he doesn't like getting in or out, but can still be driven. Occasionally, he can also play, like throwing balls, but only if the owner wants to. Due to his age, an ground-level living situation would be preferable. Calmness and a loving approach would be perfect for BrÖSel. We do not see chaos or small children as suitable for him in his new home. He is a very content type. At 50 cm, he has a good medium size. BrÖSel will be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas in his new home. He will bring his EU pet passport with him after a positive assessment. Many thanks to Sabine K.! You have given our dear BrÖSel its unique name! Date: 26.06.

Vielen Dank Sabine K.! Du hast unserem lieben Brösel seinen unvergleichlichen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 26.06.2025

About BrÖSel

What life with BrÖSel looks like

BrÖSel is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting BrÖSel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about BrÖSel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw BrÖSel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt BrÖSel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is BrÖSel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if BrÖSel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know BrÖSel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
