Adopt Brownie

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

About 7 years old (born around March 1, 2019), 30 cm, 6 kg, male, neutered on a foster home in the Canton of Bern Brownie seeks patient people. Brownie is a lovely, about 7-year-old Dachshund who is making great progress on his foster home. He enjoys cuddles very much and now even actively asks for them. The foster home gives Brownie the time he needs. While he is still a bit unsure when it comes to being put on a leash, he also finds walks not so great at the moment. With patience, calmness, and loving companionship, Brownie will surely develop joy in exploring the world step by step. His future home For Brownie, we are looking for dog-experienced people who are willing to gently accompany him on his journey and give him security. A home with an enclosed garden would be ideal, as he really enjoys it. Brownie feels comfortable in a pack and has no problems with large dogs. We do not see children as suitable for him. You can visit Brownie in the Canton of Bern. We look forward to it. Videos June 24:

About Brownie

What life with Brownie looks like

Brownie is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at home4dogs in Home4dogs.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brownie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brownie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. home4dogs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brownie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brownie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — home4dogs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Brownie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brownie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with home4dogs early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brownie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
