Adopt Bru

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Description Our animal welfare workers report: the green-eyed Bru was thrown over the fence of a privately-owned property that no one lives on, except for two friendly "watch dogs" that "guard" the property. Thankfully, the "watch dogs" were super friendly and accepted Bru into their pack. Someone comes to the property once or twice a week to feed the dogs and informed the animal welfare workers that they do not want the puppy. The challenge was that the small Bodeguero-mixed-breed female dog had a great fear of people. The animal welfare workers had tried to save her multiple times, but she was too quick and always managed to escape. As the property is quite large and has many olive trees, the young pup could always hide well. Until one night, the animal welfare workers decided to try again, but this time with four-legged support. One of the watch dogs showed the animal welfare workers where the small female dog was hiding, and it succeeded in catching her. Bru was not at all happy about it! The little sniffer was shy and mistrustful of people, although this is slowly improving and Bru is gradually overcoming her fears. The animal welfare workers decided to name the abandoned young pup Bru, after the "watch dog" who helped find her. Bru shows a rather calm demeanor at the animal shelter and loves spending time with the older male dog Eneko; he has become her "big brother" and watches over her, and she loves being near him. Bru is slowly gaining more trust in the animal welfare workers, but it is assumed that she must have had a hard time or bad experiences with certain people. However, the local animal welfare workers are extremely optimistic, as the clever Bru is making great progress. The sweet female dog is happy to eat and is very curious, she loves exploring her surroundings. Who would like to give Bru a warm and safe bed and allow her to have a worry-free, beautiful life? About Bru

What life with Bru looks like

Bru is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bru, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bru?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bru on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bru if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bru already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bru isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bru and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
