Bruce

Border Collie · Male · Young · 2 years

Bruce is a sweet boy who is a bit nervous at first so will need patient owners who are can understand his body language and are willing go at his pace with introductions. Despite this, he is a playful boy who loves chasing his squeaky ball in the garden. A rural or quieter area would be best for Bruce as he is a Collie who loves going for long walks in fields and forests, but he does travel well in the car which is helpful for adventures further afield. Bruce isn't overly bothered by other dogs, so is happy to pass them on walks with a curious sniff and will then carry on with his own thing. At the end of the day, Bruce loves to chill at home with his humans and cuddle up on the sofa. Bruce is a sweet 2 year old Collie looking for a quiet home to call his own. He could potentially live with another calm dog, pending a successful meet at our centre and has lived with children before, so could live with older primary school aged children who know when to give him his space. Bruce loves the outdoors and would really benefit from having a private garden where he can chill and watch the world go by. Bruce is able to be left in the home for up to 4 hours, where he will settle on his bed for a nap.

About Bruce

What life with Bruce looks like

Bruce is a young adult border collie dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bruce, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bruce?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bruce on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bruce if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bruce already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bruce isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bruce and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
