Bruce

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

BREED: Malinois cross IDEAL HOME: a home with a garden LIVING WITH CHILDREN: older children 1 plus LIVING WITH DOGS: I could potentially live with another well socialised dog LIVING WITH CATS: I’ve never lived with cats Bruce is a 1-year-old Malinois cross looking for his forever home. He’s an incredibly friendly boy who loves everyone he meets and has been getting on really well with the other dogs at the centre—especially his friend Red, as he’s always keen to initiate play! Bruce is still very much a big puppy and can be quite boisterous, so he will need ongoing training and guidance to help him channel his energy in the right way. He absolutely loves spending time in the free run pen where he can burn off some of that enthusiasm. He’s a treat-orientated boy, which will be a great advantage when it comes to training. That said, he doesn’t always pick things up straight away—bless him—so he’ll need a patient and understanding owner who is willing to put the time into helping him learn and develop at his own pace. Bruce hasn’t quite mastered the art of fetch yet. When you throw a ball, he tends to look a little puzzled as if wondering where it’s gone, which only adds to his charm . He has previously lived with two female dogs, although this could be a little challenging at times. We believe this may have been due to him being neutered later, with hormones likely playing a role in some pushy behaviour. He is now neutered. Bruce is a fun-loving, affectionate young dog who will thrive in an active home that can offer him plenty of exercise, structure, and continued training. With time, patience, and consistency, he has all the potential to grow into a fantastic companion. A loving, committed home Plenty of companionship – he doesn’t enjoy being alone for long periods An active lifestyle with daily walks and playtime Ongoing training (lead walking, basic commands, social skills) Mental stimulation (toys, games, enrichment) A secure space to relax and feel safe Good-quality food and fresh water Routine vet care (vaccinations, flea/worming, neutering when appropriate) Bruce is an incredibly sweet-natured, affectionate young dog.. With the right home, he will grow into a wonderful companion and a devoted member of the family. Interested in adopting Bruce? Call or contact us.

About Bruce

What life with Bruce looks like

Bruce is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SARA Ann Prosser Foundation in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bruce, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bruce?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SARA Ann Prosser Foundation handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bruce on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bruce if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SARA Ann Prosser Foundation will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bruce already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bruce isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SARA Ann Prosser Foundation early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bruce and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
