Adopt Candy

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

BREED: Domestic short hair IDEAL HOME: I’d need access to the outdoors LIVING WITH CHILDREN: I could live with older children 10 years plus LIVING WITH DOGS: I prefer not to live with dogs LIVING WITH CATS: I prefer not to live with cats Candy is a stunning 2–3-year-old semi-long-haired lady who came to us as a stray. At first, she was understandably a little nervous, but the moment she was offered a gentle stroke and some fuss, she stepped right out to say hello. Beautiful both inside and out, Candy has a sweet nature and would make a loving and loyal companion. She’s a petite girl who enjoys affection, but she also likes her independence and time to explore. Like most cats Candy can have a pop and may scratch, especially if she’s picked up. Because she has had a few disagreements with the other cats in our cattery, Candy would prefer to be the only feline in her forever home. She’ll also need access to the outdoors in a safe area away from main roads so she can enjoy some fresh air and sunshine. Candy can live with children who are old enough to understand when she needs a little time and space to herself. As a semi-long-haired beauty, she will need regular grooming to keep her coat soft and tangle-free — something she’ll likely see as another chance for bonding time. If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate companion with a big heart in a small package, Candy might just be the perfect match for you. Interested in adopting Candy? Call or contact us.

About Candy

What life with Candy looks like

Candy is a large young adult mixed breed cat waiting at SARA Ann Prosser Foundation in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Candy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Candy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SARA Ann Prosser Foundation handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Candy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Candy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SARA Ann Prosser Foundation will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Candy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Candy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SARA Ann Prosser Foundation early rather than rehoming privately; they know Candy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
