Bruno & Mars

Abyssinian · Male · Young · 2 years

Background: Meet Bruno and Mars, a bonded pair of neutered boars. These cheeky boys sadly came to Raystede due their previous owner’s change in circumstances. They can be a little shy but can always be easily bribed with tasty veg! We are sure that with the love and patience they deserve, they will find their confidence and their personalities will start to shine through. Home wanted: They are looking for a home as a pair. A pair will require a minimum enclosure of at least 10.5 square feet of unbroken space on one level. They must have plenty of unrestricted hay and a variety of enrichment. They would like to be homed indoors all year around with supervised access to a suitable run on warmer summer days. They are looking for a calm home willing to provide the time and patience they need to come out of their shells and let their personalities flourish. Children: Bruno and Mars could potentially live in a home with older, sensible children or teenagers. However, they can be a little nervous and scatty at times so must not be surrounded by loud noises and should only be handled by the adults in the home. Other animals: The pair must be re-homed together as they are bonded. Will need to be kept separate from other pets in the home. Additional needs: Boys need regular maintenance of their grease glands and checking for impaction. They are looking for a dedicated and committed forever home, ready to give them lots of attention and fuss. If you think you could offer the cheeky Bruno and Mars their forever home, please complete an online application form.

About Bruno & Mars

What life with Bruno & Mars looks like

Bruno & Mars is a young adult abyssinian cat waiting at Raystede Centre in Ringmer.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bruno & Mars, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bruno & Mars?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Raystede Centre handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bruno & Mars on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bruno & Mars if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Raystede Centre will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Bruno & Mars already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bruno & Mars isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Raystede Centre early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bruno & Mars and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
