Toffee

Female Β· Young Β· 3 years

Background: Meet Toffee, a single sow. She came to Raystede when she sadly lost her companion. She is ready to start her search for a female/s or/and neutered male companion. Toffee is quite a timid and shy guinea pig and is often found hiding away in her cosy piles of hay. Like all guinea pigs, she loves her food and this will be the key to gaining her trust. Ideal home: She will need a large enclosure, full of fresh hay, enrichment and cosy sleeping areas. The minimum requirement of space on one unbroken level will be 10.5 square feet for pair/trio. She is looking for an indoor home or converted outhouse/shed. Although timid with people, Toffee has been known to be on the more dominat side with previous bonds, so may prefer a more submissive friend/s. Her previous history suggests she tends to get on well with neutered boars. Children: Toffee would prefer a quiet, adult only home/older sensible teenagers. Must not be handled by young children. Other animals: She is looking to join more female/s and/or a neutered boar. They must be kept separate from any other animals in the home. Additional needs: A patient and calm adopter with experience of timid guinea pigs. If you think you could offer Toffee her forever home, please complete an online application form.

Frequently asked

Adopting Toffee, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Toffee?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Raystede Centre handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Toffee on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Toffee if I live in another country?
Sometimes. Whether a animal can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Raystede Centre what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Toffee already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
What a animal comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask Raystede Centre directly what is included and what Toffee still needs.
What happens if Toffee isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Raystede Centre early rather than rehoming privately; they know Toffee and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
