Adopt Brúnó

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 6 years

Due to eviction, the owner gave up Brúnó, a real energy bomb. Although not a puppy anymore at her 6 years old, she is not old either. Especially when it comes to play or walks, she gives all her energy completely. She is a skilled fetch dog, catches the ball in mid-air, brings it back and drops it. On a leash, she pulls a lot, but is manageable with experienced hands. She responds well to commands. Very charming with everyone, without exception. She can get a bit overly excited by jumping up, which might be scary for young children, so we don't recommend her for families with small kids. She is very energetic towards other dogs, not very kindly. She hunts cats. Definitely recommended to take her to dog school from the first moment. Not recommended for first-time dog owners.

BEKERÜLÉSÉNEK KÖRÜLMÉNYEI: Költözés (kilakoltatás) miatt adta le a gazdája Brúnó egy igazi energiabomba. Szépen reagál a jelzésekre.

About Brúnó

What life with Brúnó looks like

Brúnó is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Rex Kutyaotthon in Budapest.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires dog training school from day one, pulls strongly on leash

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brúnó, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brúnó?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rex Kutyaotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brúnó on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brúnó if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Rex Kutyaotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Brúnó already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brúnó isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rex Kutyaotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brúnó and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
