Bruno

Male · Adult · 8 years

Bruno was not always a dog from an animal shelter. He once had his own home and his own person. Unfortunately, fate led him to be here - not because he was a "difficult" dog. Life simply wrote a different script for him. It is very hard for him to accept the role he has been given. He came to the animal shelter neglected and very thin. We are still trying to get him into better shape, but it's not easy, because the reality of the shelter greatly stresses him. Bruno is an extremely sensitive and emotional dog, and the noise and tension in this place clearly do not help him. Despite the care, it is difficult for him to gain weight, and each day he becomes thinner. This is a dog who needs human closeness. Contact with a caregiver gives him a sense of security and helps him calm down. Equally important for him are walks, space and quiet exploration of the world - things that are very much missing from the animal shelter. Bruno is not lacking in energy, and despite his age, he still absorbs life fully. Bruno also finds himself in the company of other dogs, but he needs stable, calm companions. With the right dog guide, he can learn and regulate his emotions. That is why a calm environment and socialization conducted on low, safe emotions is so important for him. He is a wonderful, eight-year-old dog with great potential. He just needs a place where he can feel safe.

PL·Show original

Bruno nie zawsze był psem ze schroniska. Kiedyś miał swój dom i swojego człowieka. To wspaniały, ośmioletni pies z ogromnym potencjałem.

About Bruno

What life with Bruno looks like

Bruno is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Underweight, stress-sensitive, requires quiet environment for emotional regulation

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bruno, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bruno?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bruno on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bruno if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bruno already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bruno isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bruno and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
