Brutus1

Male · Senior · 10 years

Brutus arrived at the animal shelter in Choszczno under difficult circumstances. He was evidence in a case, locked in a shed, forgotten by the world. Today that is all in the past! The verdict has been made, and Brutus can finally start a new life. By what miracle did he keep such a wonderful character after everything he went through? We don't know. But we do know one thing: he is an absolutely exceptional dog! Brutus is about 9 years old, a large dog weighing around 40 kg. Despite his size, he is polite and calm on walks. Sometimes he remembers that he is strong. He loves people - petting, hugging, contact with humans is his favorite activity. Puppies? Always welcome. Petting and treats? Even more so! At home, he will certainly become a big softie. He walks well on a leash and likes to go for walks. He dreams of his own corner, a soft bed, and a hand that will stroke his head. At the animal shelter, he lives alone, as he does not like other dogs. But we know from experience that after adoption, a lot can change. Not one dog has surprised us with their transformation. We don't know his reaction to cats. Children - if they are taught respect for animals, they will be wonderful hands to pet for Brutus. However, if they would "step on his head," we honestly say: we do not recommend any dog. Brutus is vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. He is waiting for a home at the animal shelter in Choszczno. polski English Deutsch Brutus trafił do schroniska w Choszcznie w trudnych okolicznościach. Zawsze mile widziane. Głaski i mizianki? Jeszcze bardziej! About Brutus1

What life with Brutus1 looks like

Brutus1 is a large senior dog waiting at Schronisko Choszczno in Poland.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Brutus1, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Brutus1?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Choszczno handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Brutus1 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Brutus1 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Choszczno will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Brutus1 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Brutus1 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Choszczno early rather than rehoming privately; they know Brutus1 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
