Buddy

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 6 months

🐾 Meet Buddy 🐾 Little Buddy is approximately seven months old and, while he may be small in size and stature for a Collie, he has one of the biggest hearts you could ever hope to find in a puppy. Buddy came into our care from a dog pound after we were asked to help him due to his nervous and timid nature. Since arriving, he has absolutely excelled himself. Every day he tries so hard to be brave, and even during moments when he’s feeling unsure, all he wants to do is please the people around him. He is an incredibly easy little dog to have around. Buddy is quiet, clean, and causes very little fuss. He’s affectionate and enjoys company, but he’s also respectful and happy to give you space when needed. He has a wonderfully gentle nature that makes him a pleasure to live with. Buddy will need a home with another confident dog who can continue to show him the ropes and help build on all the progress he has made. Having a canine companion by his side will give him the reassurance he needs as he continues to grow in confidence. Underneath that shy exterior is the most darling little puppy—a true treasure who is just waiting for someone to see how special he is. We’re looking for a quiet, settled home with Collie experience where Buddy can continue to flourish at his own pace. In return, you’ll gain one of the sweetest, most rewarding companions imaginable. ❤️ Buddy really is an absolute dream.

About Buddy

What life with Buddy looks like

Buddy is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Almost Home Animal Rescue NI in Belfast.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇮🇪Adopting from Ireland

Irish shelters require a home check (often phone or video) and an adoption contract. Animals are vaccinated, chipped, and registered. Cross-border placements to mainland Europe require the rabies titer test (TRACES system).

Frequently asked

Adopting Buddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Buddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Almost Home Animal Rescue NI handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Buddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Buddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Almost Home Animal Rescue NI will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Buddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Buddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Almost Home Animal Rescue NI early rather than rehoming privately; they know Buddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
