Buddy

Mixed Breed Β· Male Β· Adult Β· 5 years

Our lovely Buddy is sadly back looking for his forever home β€” and we are determined to find this big, beautiful boy the happiness he deserves. 🐾❀️ Buddy is a very loving and sweet boy who has been part of a family for the past 18 months. He is currently living in the Newcastle area , and ideally we would love to find him a home nearby so that introductions and meets can be carefully managed with any existing family members or dogs. We will, however, consider other areas for the right home . Buddy's happiness is what matters most. ❀️ 🐾 A little about Buddy Buddy will be 5 years old in December and, despite being a big lad, he integrates very well with other dogs. He has lived with other dogs and has shown that he can happily coexist with them. Unfortunately, his current family are finding that he struggles when family and friends visit the home . Their household is busy and bustling, and this environment isn't allowing Buddy to thrive. The family are also hoping to adopt a child, and Buddy's difficulties around visitors are unfortunately becoming a barrier to that process. This isn't because Buddy is a bad dog β€” far from it. Buddy is a genuinely lovely boy who we feel would flourish in a quieter, calmer environment , with less coming and going and a more predictable routine. We would say that Buddy isn't necessarily a first-time dog . He needs someone who understands dogs, can read his behaviour and is confident in managing situations appropriately. But once you build a relationship with Buddy, you will see what a lovely nature he has β€” and, of course, those wonderful big ears! ❀️🐾 🏑 What we're looking for We are looking for a quieter home where Buddy can enjoy: 🐾 Regular walks ❀️ A calm and predictable routine 🏑 Less household traffic and fewer visitors πŸ• Appropriate introductions and management around other dogs 🧠 An owner who understands and respects his boundaries ❀️ Time to build a trusting relationship with him As with many dogs, Buddy has natural protective instincts. These instincts aren't something to punish β€” they simply need to be understood and managed appropriately , particularly when people are entering his space or home. The good news is that Buddy can remain in his current home for approximately the next two months , giving us time to find the right placement and hopefully avoid him having to return to kennels. 🐾 Buddy is: ❀️ Nearly 5 years old πŸ• Good with other dogs when appropriately introduced πŸ’‰ Fully vaccinated βœ‚οΈ Neutered πŸ“ Microchipped πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄ Originally from Romania πŸ“„ Has his APHA Brucellosis certificates 🏑 Currently living in the Newcastle area Buddy originally came from Romania, and his original rescuer, Karen Carter , will be available to discuss his journey and history with anyone seriously considering giving Buddy a home. We don't want Buddy to simply move from one home to another. We want to find the home that is right for him. ❀️ He doesn't need a busy household. He doesn't need constant visitors. He needs peace, routine, understanding, regular walks and someone who will give him the chance to show just how wonderful he really is. 🐾❀️ If you think you could offer Buddy the quieter life he deserves, please get in touch. Let's find big Buddy his forever happiness. ❀️🐾 Adoption fee: Β£460 (including microchip registration)

About Buddy

What life with Buddy looks like

Buddy is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Doggy Dens UK Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible β€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Buddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Buddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Doggy Dens UK Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Buddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Buddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Doggy Dens UK Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Buddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Buddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Doggy Dens UK Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Buddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
