adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! The handsome Buddy is searching for his anchor; will he find it with you? In 2016, he came to Germany as a puppy and is now a ca. 7-year-old male dog, measuring ca. 50 cm and weighing 20 kg. At first, everything went well in his previous family. Everyone was in love with the white fluffy puppy, and then he had to leave his family all of a sudden. Buddy (03.06.2016) had already experienced a lot at a young age. In the past, his breed was misunderstood, and his previous owners quickly became overwhelmed. Unfortunately, Buddy also ended up with a few trainers who did not understand him and applied incorrect training methods, which further eroded his trust in people. Currently, he lives in a pension in 47652 Weeze and has adapted well there. Due to his experiences, Buddy is initially mistrustful at the start of any contact and needs time to warm up to his counterpart. Therefore, there should be no small children in the household. We also do not see any cats. Despite everything, Buddy is friendly, playful, and cheerful. However, Buddy is not a beginner dog and needs people with a good understanding of dogs and a heart. People who can read him well and also take his needs seriously. Buddy is very attentive and eager to learn and can be easily enthusiastic about new things. The greatest reward in training for Buddy is attention in the form of praise and recognition. Buddy longs for a quiet home where he is understood and can be led with confidence. We suspect a mix with herding dog traits. Buddy has an EU pet passport, is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, not neutered, and will only be placed after a positive Buddy has been searching for his human for such a long time… has he won your heart? He can be visited at the dog pension in Weeze. We thank photographer Sarah Koutnik for the beautiful photos of Buddy! Date: 19.05.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Anfangs lief alles gut in seiner damaligen Familie.

About Buddy

What life with Buddy looks like

Buddy is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Buddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Buddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Buddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Buddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Buddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Buddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Buddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
