Adopt Buddy

Patterdale Terrier · Male · Young · 1 year

Buddy Tier-ID: 1010 Adopted at the animal shelter since 03.02.2026 (Current Interested Parties: 2) The young male dog Buddy is a friendly, open-minded fellow on the lookout for a suitable home that can provide him with orientation and security. Buddy is currently not neutered, but a spay/neuter appointment is already scheduled. He is very friendly and open with people. He is a real puppy who sometimes still has a few silly ideas in his head. On walks, he shows himself to be well-leashable and walks pleasantly. Buddy is generally friendly with other animals, but his compatibility depends on the animal. In his previous home, he lived with the also unneutered male dog Marley. However, if he encounters a dog he doesn't like, it can result in an unexpected reaction towards his primary caregiver on the leash. We are currently working on this and giving him an alternative, for example, by giving him a rope to bite, allowing him to express his frustration. With consistent, loving guidance and further training, this behavior can be well-managed. It is said that Buddy knows cats from his previous home – this, however, should be carefully verified on an individual basis. Whether Buddy can be left alone is currently unknown. No information is available regarding his child-friendliness. Walks well on a leash.

About Buddy

What life with Buddy looks like

Buddy is a young adult patterdale terrier dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Buddy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Buddy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Buddy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Buddy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Buddy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Buddy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Lippstadt und Umgebung e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Buddy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
