Adopt Bud

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 6 years

Bud, born in 2020, carries a heavy past with him. Like Remini, he also comes from a breeder farm from which he was rescued. The conditions there were shocking: husbandry outdoors at sub-zero temperatures, no visible food or water bowl, no protection, no warm spot – only dirt, mud, and cold. No wonder then that Bud is initially shy and cautious. He had to learn first that people can also be kind. But give him some time, and he surprisingly warms up quickly. Then he seeks the proximity of his trusted people, snuggles up for life, and shows his soft, clingy side. Bud is playful and curious, wanting to discover the world – but he quickly realizes that there is still much he doesn’t know. New stimuli can unsettle him, which is why he needs calm, patient people who can guide him step by step. A household with small children would likely be too much for him. How he gets along with other dogs is hard to say, as he has shown few reactions so far. For Bud, we wish for a rural, quiet home, far from the city bustle. Too many stimuli and hectic activity would overwhelm him. Structure, security, and loving guidance are the keys to a relaxed life.

About Bud

What life with Bud looks like

Bud is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Arche Noah in Graz.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires patient, quiet environment due to puppy mill trauma. Needs rural setting away from city noise and stimulation.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bud, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bud?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Arche Noah handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bud on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bud if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Arche Noah will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bud already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bud isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Arche Noah early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bud and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
