Budyń

Male · Young · 1 year

Budyń is a young, enthusiastic, and energetic dog who thoroughly enjoys spending time outdoors with people. He finds great joy in both playful activities and calm walks filled with lots of sniffing. He needs a little time to warm up to new people—literally just a moment, because all it takes is a brief sniff, a treat in the form of a chew toy, and Budyń is already won over. At first, however, he may bark quite vigorously at a new person. Budyń is still a very young dog, and shelter conditions aren't exactly helping him develop properly. To cope with his challenging situation, Budyń sometimes tries to take control of his human companion—hurrying them along on walks or stopping them when they don’t want to go somewhere. He displays very similar behaviors when interacting with other dogs, toward whom he’s generally quite positive—but at the same time, he gets highly excited upon seeing them and tends to try to control their movements during direct contact. It would be ideal if his future guardians continued working on building his social skills. Budyń is a dog who is highly motivated to cooperate with humans, whether for treats or simply for his guardian’s approval. He learns quickly, especially considering how negatively shelter conditions can affect his ability to learn new things. With people he knows, he’s very open and eagerly seeks affection and petting. Budyń is looking for active, patient, and conscientious guardians who are aware of canine needs.

PL·Show original

Budyń szuka aktywnych, cierpliwych i świadomych psich potrzeb opiekunów.

About Budyń

What life with Budyń looks like

Budyń is a medium-sized young adult dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Budyń, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Budyń?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Budyń on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Budyń if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Budyń already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Budyń isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Budyń and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
