Bugzy

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 11 years

Bugzy is looking for an adult only home. She would like to be the only cat in the home and requires an indoor-only environment. Bugzy is a shy but friendly lady who was a little cautious initially when she first arrived here at the shelter. Now that she’s settled in and gotten to know our staff, she is always happy to see us and be made a fuss of. She is getting more and more confident by the day and will now often start purring as soon as our staff enter her pen and will begin following them or rolling around for attention! She also loves to play and particularly enjoys wand toys and catnip toys. Bugzy has shown that she isn’t keen on other cats whilst in our care and so she would be happiest as the only cat in the home. Her previous home was a very quiet, adult-only home and so we feel she would be best suited to this sort of environment again as she can be easily spooked and finds change overwhelming. This lovely lady very sadly arrived into our care after her owner passed away. She has done so well coping and adjusting to life here at the shelter and she is now more than ready to find her forever home where she can truly relax and be spoilt rotten as she deserves. This sweet girl has so much love to give and we have no doubt she will make a wonderful addition to her forever family.

About Bugzy

What life with Bugzy looks like

Bugzy is a senior mixed breed cat waiting at Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter in Newcastle.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bugzy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bugzy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bugzy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bugzy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bugzy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bugzy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bugzy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
