Adopt Buh

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Buh was originally found tied up and abandoned outside our animal shelter. At first, she was unsure and wary of people, but quickly gained trust and could increasingly relax. After a few weeks, then, after a longer getting-to-know-you period, Buh moved into her new home. However, due to several biting incidents where the only dog was severely injured, she had to be returned to the animal shelter. Buh is a young, active, and attentive female dog who initially reacts reservedly to strangers. With a bit of patience, she quickly warms up. Given her background, it can be assumed that she not only made good experiences with people in her previous home. She reacts insecurely and submissively to hectic movements. If she is pressured, she shows insecure defensive behavior. However, she already allows a lot of space with her primary caregivers. Outdoors, Buh currently shows a lot of self-assurance and unfortunately also reacts to some movement stimuli. As she tends to react impulsively when on a walk, she was already accustomed to wearing a muzzle a long time ago. This is expressed, among other things, by biting the leash or biting the person holding the other end of the leash. In contact with fellow animals, Buh still requires a lot of guidance. Through regular, controlled contact with dominant male dogs, she has already made progress. However, she still needs clear leadership. Buh tends to show strong jealousy towards other dogs and is not afraid to start a serious conflict with a fellow animal. In her future home, no children should live. The cat test at the animal shelter went well so far. Due to the incidents in the last home, it is advisable that there are no first-time dog owners. We are looking for experienced and sovereign owners who are familiar with the characteristics of the Presa Canario and can offer Buh a stable, consistent, and loving home.

In ihrem zukünftigen Zuhause sollten keine Kinder Leben.

About Buh

What life with Buh looks like

Buh is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Buh, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Buh?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Buh on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Buh if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Buh already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Buh isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with BMT Tierheim Arche Noah Stuhr early rather than rehoming privately; they know Buh and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
