Bunny

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

I was brought to the shelter because I was wandering around on the street. At first, I found it a bit scary here, but I've gotten used to my caregivers and the environment. I'm very adventurous and like to look beyond my own enclosure. If the caregivers aren't paying attention, I quickly jump out of my enclosure when the door opens. I think they find that amusing. I don't like loud noises and dog barking. That's why I can't live with or near dogs and children. I love sitting on my castle and overseeing everything from my throne. I'm very sweet and if you trust me, I'd love to come for a cuddle. I'm also very tidy and like to keep my enclosure clean, so I closely supervise when my enclosure is cleaned. I'd like to have a sweet rabbit friend by my side to play with. So who wants to go on a date with me at the shelter? Make an appointment with my caregivers via email. Until then, I'll take a nap on my castle...

About Bunny

What life with Bunny looks like

Bunny is a young adult mixed breed rabbit waiting at Dierenopvang Hengelo in Hengelo.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Bunny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Bunny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenopvang Hengelo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Bunny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Bunny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenopvang Hengelo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Bunny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Bunny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenopvang Hengelo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Bunny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
