Buster

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

We present Buster, a puppy barely a year old who has everyone smitten. We know nothing about his past, only that he came from the dog pound. At such a young age, he already knows what it's like to live in a cage, surrounded by the stimuli of other dogs, people coming and going, rain, and cold. Due to this, he's a bit timid. He lets himself be handled without any problem, allowing himself to be picked up, touched, and given treatments... However, he needs to be approached slowly, without sudden movements, and taught that there's nothing to be afraid of, and that he's in a safe place. He's sociable with both people and dogs. He has no problem with people; he likes being pampered, even though he doesn't quite know what it is, and accepts it willingly. He coexists with several dogs of different ages, with whom he gets along wonderfully. We hope that soon a family will notice Buster and teach him how wonderful life outside of four walls can be. That he doesn't grow up in a cage like many of his companions, but in a home filled with much love.

ES·Show original

About Buster

What life with Buster looks like

Buster is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Protectora Malaga in Málaga.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

Note from the shelter: Fearful due to shelter environment, needs patient approach and gentle handling

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Buster, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Buster?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Protectora Malaga handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Buster on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Buster if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Protectora Malaga will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Buster already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Buster isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Protectora Malaga early rather than rehoming privately; they know Buster and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
