Buttercup Oat

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

female & male abandoned/freed or suitable for apartment living Born 03/2025 EKH neutered yes / [] no In the animal shelter since 09.05.2026 ________________________ We test every cat with a rapid test for FIV ("Cat AIDS", more info here!) and FeLV ("Cat Leukemia", more info here!) and clarify the status. We inform about the risk of FIP disease ("Feline Infectious Peritonitis"). ________________________ Buttercup and Oat were given up due to overburdening at our shelter. Currently, they reside on one of our foster homes in Marburg and can be visited by appointment (contact the animal shelter). The two young siblings are very friendly cats, they behave "modelishly" at their foster home, are cuddly, curious, and open-minded. They also behave kindly and approachably at the vet. We are looking for a home for them that will give them as much love as they deserve, and they are also suitable as family cats. We are looking for a shared home for both of them, as they get along well and give each other orientation. So far, they have been pure indoor cats and can happily continue to live as such, but they can also be accustomed to a free-range lifestyle in a cat-friendly environment. Buttercup and Oat are looking forward to enjoying the rest of their lives in a loving home! ________________________ (As of 08.06.2026) Buttercup: red-white; Oat: gray-white (Click on the images to see them in full size!) The description reflects the current status, but we reserve the right to make changes or new assessments. It can always happen that an animal behaves differently in a new home due to changed circumstances. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Buttercup Oat

What life with Buttercup Oat looks like

Buttercup Oat is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Marburg in Marburg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Buttercup Oat, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Buttercup Oat?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Marburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Buttercup Oat on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Buttercup Oat if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Marburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Buttercup Oat already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Buttercup Oat isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Marburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Buttercup Oat and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
