Buzz

Shih Tzu · Male · Puppy · 3 months

Buzz is a super sweet and playful 12-week-old French Bulldog x Shih Tzu puppy who is currently enjoying life in a foster home while he waits to find his forever family. Like all puppies, Buzz is full of curiosity and loves exploring the world around him. He enjoys playing with his toys, having cuddles with his foster carers, and then settling down for a well-earned nap. As a young puppy, Buzz will need a family who can continue his training, including house training, lead walking, and helping him grow into a happy and confident adult dog. The good news is that he's a big fan of his treats, which makes him very eager to learn! Any time spent alone will need to be introduced gradually and built up over time, so his adopters should be prepared to support him as he settles into his new home. His new family should be prepared for all the fun and commitment that comes with raising a puppy, including ongoing socialisation, training, and regular exercise as he grows. Buzz has been living with both dogs and cats in his foster home and could share a home with other animals providing adopters are happy to manage interactions initially.

About Buzz

What life with Buzz looks like

Buzz is a large puppy/kitten shih tzu dog waiting at Dogs Trust Ballymena in Ballymena.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Buzz, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Buzz?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Ballymena handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Buzz on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Buzz if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Ballymena will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Buzz already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Buzz isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Ballymena early rather than rehoming privately; they know Buzz and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
