Byku

Male · Adult · 6 years

Byku – is an endless supply of love and devotion to humans. We kindly ask for adoption, because this little dog doesn't deserve to spend so much time in the animal shelter. He is calm on a daily basis, likes to cuddle, but a little water or the company of his favorite friends makes him want to play. He builds very warm relationships with people – he is a dog completely devoted to humans. In the kennel, he behaves politely, nothing is destroyed, and his bedding and bowls are respected. Byku walks beautifully on a leash. On the dog run, he responds well to calls and returns to the person. Our ward really loves water – he happily splashes in the nearby water body and shows that he is still a young dog. He prefers to walk in a quiet environment, such as in the forest. He is not a fan of typically urban areas, noisy and busy, but he handles them quite well in the end. He does not react to passing bicycles, scooters or baby strollers. In a home, he could get along with suitable companions after initial introduction – there are dogs that Byku loves, and others that he prefers to get along with from a distance :). Because he can be forward with other dogs, he needs a caregiver who will be able to moderate his interactions. Byku can back off and remain calm from a proper distance, when asked. Due to health reasons, Byku is neutered, vaccinated and regularly vaccinated. He does not show any concerning health symptoms. Although he is not a fan of grooming procedures, he remains calm and patient during them. He accepts veterinary visits, also in a harness, if needed. Byku is a gentle, wonderful and loyal friend to humans. Discovering his beautiful and dignified nature is a great pleasure for both sides - for him and for the human. With a human friend, a guide who wisely and patiently shows him the beauty of the world, there are no obstacles that cannot be overcome.

Byku – to nieskończone pokłady miłości i oddania człowiekowi. Byku to łagodny, wspaniały i wierny przyjaciel człowieka.

About Byku

What life with Byku looks like

Byku is a large adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs careful dog socialization management due to selective interactions with other dogs

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Byku, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Byku?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Byku on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Byku if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Byku already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Byku isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Byku and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
