adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Cachou can directly travel to his own home! His story: Bistrita, Romania. The stunning Cachou is incredibly impressive with his striking appearance. His large ears, spotted snout, and white-brown fur with large, black button eyes immediately captivate… These are extremely moving images that reach us from the shelter in Romania. Cachou, a male dog of striking appearance, should be in the best phase of his life – full of enthusiasm, ready to win hearts, and experience adventures. Instead, he lies dejectedly on the cold, wet, and dirty concrete floor of his unworthy pen, becoming sadder every day. 🙁 Cachou urgently needs a suitable foster home or even a forever home to escape the shelter life. Unfortunately, Cachou is still very shy around strangers. Perhaps he has had negative or even painful experiences with people, but there seems to be no loss of trust in us two-legged beings within his inner self, and his desire for affection is palpable and grows every day. This is especially evident when he becomes a full-blown cuddle monster with his caregiver Tudor and tries to make up for lost time 🙂 The handsome mixed-breed male dog stands about 50-53cm at the shoulder. As for his origin, we can only make guesses. His brown ears and snow-white fur remind us of the characteristics of a Cattle Dog. The breed is a herding and driving dog and originally comes from Australia. Cattle dogs are very robust, attentive, fearless, and vigilant, but not barking dogs. They are considered loyal, attached family members but are not for beginners. They are very temperamental and generally initially reserved and cautious towards strangers. Cachou requires empathetic, patient, and experienced dog lovers by his side who are able to meet all his needs and challenges with sovereignty. Additionally, they should be willing to invest a lot of energy, time, and love to build deep trust, on which he can rely in uncertain moments. A rural, quiet environment with constant trusted people would significantly ease his challenging start in his new world. He socializes well with other dogs and always in a friendly manner. Cachou is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and in possession of an EU pet passport. Who will give the wonderful Cachou their heart and a loving home? A heartfelt thank you also goes to Diana V., who took on the nametag sponsorship for our lovely Cachou. Many thanks to Maria Christina H.! You support Cachou with a monthly sponsorship!.

Vielen Dank Maria Christina H.! Du unterstützt Cachou mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft!

About Cachou

What life with Cachou looks like

Cachou is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cachou, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cachou?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cachou on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cachou if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cachou already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cachou isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cachou and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
