Adopt Caipi

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Caipi – with curiosity in her gaze and courage in her heart → Breed: mixed breed → Gender: female → Born: 20.02.2025 → Size / Weight: 54 cm / 18 kg → Neutered: yes → Vaccinated: yes → Identification: Microchip → Compatible with: male dogs and female dogs → Incompatible with: unknown → Sponsorships possible: yes Description: Caipi is a young female dog with a curious look and a fine sense for her people. She was found with her siblings in a place where no living being should have been. Fortunately, all were rescued in time and have since been living in a foster home. Caipi is now familiar with this world – everything else is still waiting to be discovered. Caipi is just at the beginning of her life as a family dog. Life indoors, everyday sounds, rules, rituals, basic commands, and all the small things that make a good companion, she still needs to learn. She brings the most important prerequisite: openness. What she needs are people who give her time, do not rush anything, and understand that settling in is a process. A few days to get acclimated are not a step backward but the start of something real. With patience, calm, and loving consistency, Caipi will gradually expand her world. Walks, new impressions, small adventures, and significant learning moments can grow slowly. Laughing together, even smiling when something doesn't work out right away, and sticking with it – that’s how trust is built.

About Caipi

What life with Caipi looks like

Caipi is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Caipi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Caipi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Caipi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Caipi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Caipi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Caipi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Franz von Assisi e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Caipi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
