Adopt Cairo

Male · Kitten

Cairo is a cute and harmonious kitten born in March 2026. He is calm and social, and is now looking for his forever home. He needs a good home with safe outdoor options when he grows big enough. Hi, I'm Cairo! I'm the perfect mix of playful and cute, just like a kitten should be. I'm happy to be around people and greet you and anyone else you might have over. I'm currently living in a safe and good foster home with my two siblings, but I'm soon ready to find my new forever home where I can live happily ever after. I'm a harmonious boy and get very happy when you give me lots of cuddles. I like to snuggle in your lap and enjoy it, and I even like to be belly rubbed. I like other things than just cuddles too, after all! I'm happy to play and get very excited often. It's so fun! I'm a very easy cat to live with – I handle transport boxes well, I'm friendly, calm, and social, and I'm not scared of the vacuum cleaner. I think I could even live with other animals like a dog if I'm introduced to one carefully.

About Cairo

What life with Cairo looks like

Cairo is a large puppy/kitten cat waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo in Oslo.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cairo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cairo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cairo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cairo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cairo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cairo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cairo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
