Vixen

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Hello! Vixen here. I am looking for a cat-friendly family with either older children or no children. I need safe and good outdoor possibilities. My foster family says I am a pretty, trustworthy and kind cat. I always meet them with a meow when they come home from work, and I really like to cuddle! Most of the time I spend on my cushion, or on a warm and cozy place. I like to know what's going on, and I follow you around. If you sit down, I like to sit on your lap or next to you on the couch. Human food looks very tempting, and sometimes I try to fish out a bit if it is easily available. I am curious, and good at jumping and playing! I am very safe and social and think visits are very cool. I really like cuddles, and I tolerate being picked up. Some habits I have are to scratch a little on the furniture, but that's mostly when I'm bored. The transport crate is okay, but my foster mother usually lures me in with some treats. I am not a fan of car rides, but we can train that together?

NO·Show original

Hei!

About Vixen

What life with Vixen looks like

Vixen is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo in Oslo.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

Note from the shelter: Scratches furniture when bored, dislikes car rides

🇳🇴Adopting from Norway

Norwegian rescues require thorough background checks. Animals leave with a Nordic pet passport and full vetting. Norway is outside the EU so import rules differ slightly — TRACES applies.

Frequently asked

Adopting Vixen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Vixen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Vixen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Vixen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Vixen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Vixen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dyrebeskyttelsen Oslo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Vixen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NO). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
