adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Caius has finally found his people! His story: The shy dream prince Caius is still waiting for a spark of hope! With his wonderful black-and-white fur pattern and white socks, he is a real looker, very gentle and loving. Caius is an exceptionally handsome young male dog. Caius is still waiting as the last of the four brothers for his chance at a new life. His three brothers, Lord, Amal, and Noell, have all found families already. Caius is good with other dogs, but he is still reserved and cautious around people. However, he is very loving and shows no aggression; helpers can take him out of the shelter and put a safety harness on him. He curiously observes everything happening around him with open eyes. Caius wants to learn so much more than a lonely and sad life in the cold and noisy shelter, which is very hard on him. Since Caius is still young, we are sure that he will build trust with people and lead a normal life as a family dog if given enough time and patience. He needs people by his side who can give him security. One should not expect anything from him at first and be prepared that Caius will be very shy at the beginning and needs time to understand everything. Step by step, he will learn everything and want to do everything right. Caius looks forward to beautiful nature walks, many cuddle hours with his people, and also the visit to a positively working dog training class. A rural home without much chaos and with constant trusted people would be perfect. Originally, Caius came from Romania, Fantanele. The sibling band was born on the street and was brought to safety when their mother went missing. Our Caius is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and can be dewormed and treated for fleas with an EU pet passport after a positive. A foster home would also be a great chance for him. Would you give Caius the chance at a better life? Many thanks to Santos W.! You gave Caius his beautiful name and thus his own identity. Many thanks to Andrea N.! You support Caius with a monthly sponsorship. Stand: 20.01.

Vielen Dank Andrea N.! Du unterstützt Caius mit einer monatlichen Patenschaft. Stand: 20.01.2025

About Caius

What life with Caius looks like

Caius is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Caius, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Caius?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Caius on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Caius if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Caius already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Caius isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Caius and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
