Cam

Greyhound · Male · Adult · 5 years

Is it an angel? No, it's Cam the beautiful boy! Cam is house-trained, though may need some reminding in a new environment. He walks beautifully on the lead, and travels well in the car so would benefit from a family that will take him for lovely walks. Cam would prefer for his family to be home with him for most of the day while he settles in, and to build his time alone up slowly. Cam loves his food, and will be entranced by a bit of cheese. He loves to chill out on a soft bed and will be lapping up all the home comforts. Cam is a 5-year old Greyhound looking for his forever home. Cam is a retired ex-racer, with lots of love and joy to bring to his new home. He is able to live with another greyhound in the home, but can be a bit more prey driven around smaller breeds. Cam is a really sweet, chilled boy who absolutely loves a snuggle with his people and a good potter around on lead for a sniff or two. Cam is able to live with children of secondary school age and over. Cam is a little bit daft, as he decided to run into a fence on his first day with us which has caused the cut on his face, but took it like a champ and has been brilliant through his healing! Cam loves to play with soft, squeaky toys and throw them around. He'll adore a home where he can snuggle down on the sofa with his people after a day of adventure. We can't wait to see this gorgeous lad thriving!

About Cam

What life with Cam looks like

Cam is a adult greyhound dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cam, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cam?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cam on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cam if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cam already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cam isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cam and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
