Clive

Border Collie · Male · Young · 1 year

Clive is a handsome chappy, with lots of love to give. He will take his time to approach, but once bonded with you, enjoys a cuddle and a playtime. He would love calm, understanding owners that can give him the time and patience he needs to come out of his shell. Clive will need some support with his house-training, but he walks well on the lead and enjoys his potters around. He will prefer his new family to be around for most of the day while he settles in, as we don't think he's ever been in a real, loving home environment before. This handsome chappy will be such a rewarding companion for a family willing to give him what he needs to thrive. Clive is a sweet 1.5-year old Collie X Beagle looking for his forever home. He is a gentle angel, who needs adopters who can do slow and gentle approaches to build a relationship on trust. As he is quite worried here in the centre, Clive would prefer all children in the home to be older secondary school aged. Clive would like to be the only dog in the home, as he is still worried and under-socialised, though, he can parallel walk with calm, polite dogs. A quieter home with consistency would be ideal for Clive to help him build his confidence. Despite being a worried boy, he is improving everyday and starting to show his true personality. He is a sweetheart, with so much love to give. He gets excited by new places to explore and sniff, and being taught to play! Clive loves to help our team with the laundry here in the centre, and absolutely adores his high value treats (cheese especially!) We can't wait to see Clive in a loving home, where he can thrive and become the brave boy we know he can be.

About Clive

What life with Clive looks like

Clive is a young adult border collie dog waiting at Dogs Trust Cardiff in Cardiff.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Clive, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Clive?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Cardiff handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Clive on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Clive if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Cardiff will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Clive already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Clive isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Cardiff early rather than rehoming privately; they know Clive and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
