Cameo

Brittany Spaniel · Male · Adult · 4 years

Cameo is initially cautious around strangers and in new situations, preferring to observe from a safe distance. Once he has gained trust, he reveals a completely different side. He loves cuddles, seeks out his humans and would love to crawl right onto their laps. Not much is known about Cameo's past. He had a hip fracture that was operated on. That time is behind him, and he now walks normally. Cameo is compatible with other dogs. A confident dog by his side can give him security and help him navigate new situations better. Cameo finds cats rather too exciting. Therefore, we do not see him in a home with cats. Children should treat Cameo with respect and understand that he initially needs time to build trust with new people. Cameo is neutered. His operated hip fracture has healed, he walks normally and shows no discomfort. Cameo may take a moment longer to open his heart. Once he has gained trust, the cautious Breton will become a cuddly little shadow who loves to be very close to his humans. He seeks people who give him time and receive a lot of closeness in return. We are looking for patient people with dog sense for Cameo, who give him the time to arrive at his own pace. A rather quiet home without too much hustle and bustle would suit him well. A garden where he can sniff and observe the world in peace would be nice.

About Cameo

What life with Cameo looks like

Cameo is a small adult brittany spaniel dog waiting at Tierleben Deutschland e.V. in Landau in der Pfalz.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cameo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cameo?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierleben Deutschland e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cameo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cameo if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierleben Deutschland e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Cameo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cameo isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierleben Deutschland e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cameo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
