Adopt Cameo

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Here comes a lovable dog with great potential! Cameo found his way to us when dog catchers were informed that a young dog was on a schoolyard in Bucharest, where he should have been for a longer time. He played with the children and was fed by them – this dog was Cameo. We assume he was abandoned there because Cameo is a very people-oriented and friendly young dog who was easy to handle. In the shelter, he was taken into the socialization group so that he wouldn’t lose his potential in a large part of the shelter. At first, he shared a run with two female dogs and the young red Denzel. Unfortunately, he didn’t get along well with Denzel and had to change runs. Now, Cameo is with some older dogs, and he gets along super well with the female dogs. However, Cameo is very energetic, boisterous, and currently still untrained. He often pushes himself forward, which sometimes causes other dogs to feel disturbed and react accordingly. On the playground, where there is much more space, there have been no conflicts so far. We have even noticed that Cameo deliberately avoids confrontations there. Additionally, there are always people on the playground whom he loves, and here, he is not very interested in the other dogs. Our golden Cameo is a super loving, playful, and eager-to-learn dog who wants to do everything right and would like to be active with people. He learns very quickly and loves it when he is given tasks. Unfortunately, he doesn’t get enough of what he needs in the animal shelter, so it’s only logical that he sometimes starts misbehaving, like, for example, getting into a fight with other dogs. We are sure that with the right tasks and proper training, he will develop into an absolutely wonderful walking companion. Cameo is a dog with great potential who would fit very well into an active family that takes him on many adventures. A visit to a dog training class would certainly be the right path for him. In the family, there can already be only a dog, preferably a female dog. © 2006-2024 by animal welfare association Europa e.V.

© 2006-2024 by Tierschutzverein Europa e.V. - All rights reserved

About Cameo

What life with Cameo looks like

Cameo is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cameo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cameo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cameo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cameo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cameo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cameo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cameo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
