Adopt Mitzi

Mixed Breed · Female · Kitten · 4 months

BREED: Domestic short hair IDEAL HOME: I would like to have access to the outdoors LIVING WITH CHILDREN: I’d prefer not to live with children LIVING WITH DOGS: I can’t live with dogs LIVING WITH CATS: I can’t live with cats Mitzi is a six-year-old cat who came into our care as a stray while heavily pregnant. Despite having had a hard life and likely several litters in the past, she raised her four kittens beautifully, and they have all now found their forever homes. Mitzi is neutered and ready to enjoy a fresh start of her own. Having spent much of her life looking after herself, Mitzi has learned to be independent and to stand up for her boundaries. She can be a little sassy and will let you know when she’s had enough fuss — she may bat or scratch from time to time — but this is simply her way of communicating. She responds very well to gentle, confident handling and to people who respect her limits, and over time she has become more trusting and enjoys affection from those she knows. A little sweet talking goes a long way with her. The cattery environment hasn’t been the easiest for Mitzi, likely due to her past experiences and the length of her stay, and she would benefit greatly from a calmer, quieter home. She would suit patient, understanding owners who are happy to let her settle at her own pace and appreciate an independent cat with a strong personality. Mitzi loves her catio and can spend hours relaxing in the sunshine. In her new home, she will need access to the outdoors once fully settled (around 8–9 weeks) and must live in a safe, quiet area away from main roads or heavy traffic. After a life of having to be resilient, Mitzi is learning that people can be kind. With the right person or people who understand her boundaries, we’re sure she’ll continue to grow in confidence and show just how good a companion she can be. She’s deserves a chance! About Mitzi

What life with Mitzi looks like

Mitzi is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at SARA Ann Prosser Foundation in United Kingdom.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mitzi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mitzi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SARA Ann Prosser Foundation handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mitzi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mitzi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SARA Ann Prosser Foundation will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mitzi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mitzi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SARA Ann Prosser Foundation early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mitzi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
