adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Cara has found a home! Her story: Wunderschöne Cara is already waiting in her foster family in Germany for her people. Cara immediately catches attention through her extraordinary eye color. Her eyes shine brightly and she knows exactly how to look to wrap her people around her paw. The pretty female dog can also make a mark with her character. She is a lively little lady dog. At first, Cara can still appear a bit shy and reserved, but once she gains trust, her initial reticence fades quickly and she enjoys the attention and cuddles. She gets along well with her fellow animals, never shows aggression, and likes to play with them. Her behavior towards cats has not yet been tested. Cara is currently around 4.5 months old and will grow to be medium-sized. At present, she has a shoulder height of 43 cm. She is looking forward to meeting her new forever family and showing them what a great addition she will be for the family. She still needs to learn the whole puppy ABC and puberty is in full swing. Here, she needs people who approach with lots of love and patience, and possibly also attend some positively working dog training classes with her and forgive her one or two mishaps. Leash walking, house training, and being alone are still foreign words to her. During puberty, she will certainly test boundaries and perhaps even forget some things she has learned. But once this phase is overcome, Cara will definitely become a great lifelong partner. Cara is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and brings an EU pet passport with her. Who will give her a loving forever home? Many thanks to Nadine! You named Cara. Date: 03.06.

Vielen Dank an Nadine! Du hast Cara Ihren Namen geschenkt. Stand: 03.06.2024

About Cara

What life with Cara looks like

Cara is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Cara, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Cara?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Cara on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Cara if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Cara already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Cara isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Cara and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
