Carla

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

On October 12, 2023, our friends arrived at the animal shelter in Linares and found a cardboard box at the entrance. Beside it lay a weak female dog, which the animal welfare workers warmly welcomed. Carla, as our partners called the friendly little puppy, moved into the animal shelter with her cardboard box—and inside the box, they found six newborn puppies, not even a day old. Of course, Carla was allowed to move directly into a foster home with her little family to raise her babies in peace and recover. This was all four months ago (as of February 2024), and Carla has fulfilled her motherly duties wonderfully. From the six tiny, hand-sized wrigglers, clever puppies have emerged. Two of the happy little hoppers have already moved to loving families in Spain, four aspiring world conquerers moved recently into the ArcoNatura animal shelter, and Carla stayed in her foster home, where she now learns how to live as a spoiled family dog and is eager and motivated to prepare for her ticket to great happiness. Meanwhile, our four-member razzle-dazzle gang is making the run of the young dogs uncertain and discovering a world we hoped they wouldn't have to meet. But we are very optimistic that Matìu, Betty, Kelly, and Nancy will soon move out and travel to their own families. The playful quartet was only one day old when it fell into the hands of loving people. Our research team didn't have to survive on the street, nor did any of the happy little puppies ever have to make bad experiences with people. In the animal shelter, they show themselves to be curious and friendly, just as with the animal shelter staff and their four-legged roommates. Carla is relieved no longer to have to shoulder the responsibility for her razzle-dazzle gang. She is still a happy, young female dog and now enjoys the attention of her foster family. Carla is three and a half years old (as of February 2024) and a wonderful companion for long walks. She is friendly with other dogs and loves children, playing with great devotion and enjoying lots of cuddles. Our Carla is a sporty and very loving lady who will surely bring many friends to an active family. Please don't overlook this wonderful female dog—while we know that puppies are very cute, but in a few months, the small furball will have become a selective teenager who actively participates in the remodeling of the apartment and tests the world every day to see if he can't perhaps rule it. Carla has already successfully navigated the cliffs of puberty … But however they decide, if you choose to give a home to a member of our small Andalusian family, you will definitely not make a mistake!

About Carla

What life with Carla looks like

Carla is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Carla, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Carla?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Carla on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Carla if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Carla already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Carla isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Carla and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
