CARLO &#8211

Male · Young · 2 years

CARLO – is reserved Breed: Dwarf Rabbit / black-brown Age: September 2024 Updated: June 11, 2026 Dwarf Rabbit Carlo is friendly and tame. He seeks a connection in a group in a great, species-appropriate home with large outdoor space and a securely enclosed run and stable. Carlo came to us due to changed living circumstances for his previous owner. Rabbits need a safe, clean, spacious, and well-ventilated stable and an outdoor run with various hiding places that offer plenty of space for hopping, digging, and gnawing. A healthy diet is also important, as well as regular dental checks, and they also need enough gnawing material, such as appropriate fresh branches. Inform yourself about the needs of the animals and the legal regulations. With the new Animal Housing Calculator, this is now very easy: www.tierhaltungsrechner.ch Further information can be found here: >> Download Rabbit Information Sheet >> Download Rodent Run Information Sheet Conventional rabbit stables, even if they consist of several compartments, are often not rabbit-appropriate, as the rabbits cannot dig in them and do not have enough space to run, gnaw, or mate. The Swiss Animal Protection recommends a minimum area of 6 m² for outdoor housing of rabbits, with a height of at least 70 cm for 2 to 4 animals. Ideally, the animals should be kept in larger runs. Further information on species-appropriate husbandry of rabbits can be provided by our animal caretakers or, for example, under www.prokaninchen.ch Share your interest in a pet with us via email and attach the completed questions catalog for the respective animal species. The questions catalog can be found >>> HERE. Have a question or want general advice? Call us at Fr. 1.20/Min. for Tierschutz work ATs).

About CARLO &#8211

What life with CARLO &#8211 looks like

CARLO &#8211 is a small young adult rabbit waiting at Aargauischer Tierschutzverein ATs in Zug (Allenwinden & Neuheim).

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting CARLO &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about CARLO &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aargauischer Tierschutzverein ATs handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw CARLO &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt CARLO &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aargauischer Tierschutzverein ATs will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is CARLO &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if CARLO &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aargauischer Tierschutzverein ATs early rather than rehoming privately; they know CARLO &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
