adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Carlo has found a home! His story: We don't know exactly where this little rascal comes from. Somewhere, someone brought Carlo and his brother Walter to a veterinary clinic in Bistrita and simply dropped them off. Eventually, the two little brothers ended up in our shelter in Bistrita, where they spend their days snuggling our local team with their 8 paws. From a distance, one is already captivated by the sweet Carlo with the black Zorro mask and those soft dark eyes. The little guy with the playful pink-black nose and the fluffy white body is a natural jester, as befits a puppy of his age. At 20 cm shoulder height, the currently around 2.5-month-old Carlo is not one of the giants in the shelter. But even though he will probably grow to be small or at most medium-sized when fully grown, he is already a big charmer. The treasure gets along with everyone in the shelter, whether human, dog, or cat. The cheerful Carlo wants to play and explore the world. We hope that the sweet man can soon move into his own home. Despite his cuteness, one should not forget that Carlo still has a lot to learn. After his long and exciting journey from Romania, the sweet boy will need to process this experience first. Then, he will start his school years under your loving, patient, and consistent guidance. On the curriculum are house training, puppy 1×1, and dog ABC, as well as leash training and the first small steps of being alone. However, it is important that puppies are not left alone for too long in their first year of life. Under your guidance, the little Carlo will do his best to understand and do everything right, but setbacks and possible small steps back are part of it. In these moments, he will love you for your understanding, your humor, and your patience. Once the first learning phase is successfully completed, the next challenge comes: puberty. Here, the hormones in Carlos' body and head dance "on the tables" and throw the little man into a bit of a tizzy. In this situation, you are advised to hold on, take a deep breath, and start over from the beginning. A visit to a positively working dog training class can be of great help to you in this, as well as in earlier phases, offering advice and showing new paths. Because even a smaller dog like Carlo wants to be challenged and supported. The positively working dog trainers have many ideas in their knowledge box that they would be happy to share with you. Carlo is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas for travel arrangements. He brings an EU pet passport and can be fostered for the charming little boy! If Carlo has found a place in your heart and you want to offer him a loving home for the rest of his life? Are you ready to start a discovery tour with Carlo? Then please sign up quickly so that the little sugar cube can move into his warm home. Heartfelt thanks to dear Maren for giving Carlo his cheeky name and thus an identity. Without your nametag sponsorship, he would not be visible and would not have a chance at a happy dog life. As of: 29.06. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

Stand: 29.06.2025

About Carlo

What life with Carlo looks like

Carlo is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Carlo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Carlo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Carlo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Carlo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Carlo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Carlo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Carlo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
