Adopt Caro cane, che mestiere fai

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy

The profitable cooperation between dog and man has never been limited, as is known, to sports activities or companionship: there are indeed real "professions," often demanding, that dogs perform alongside humans since time immemorial. The so-called "working dogs" collaborate extensively and deeply with humans in their various occupations, not only in everyday tasks but also in emergencies and dangerous situations—just think of search and rescue dogs—demonstrating being indispensable, reliable, and courageous companions. Dogs have lived with humans for about 15,000 years and since prehistory have helped humans especially as hunting, guarding, and herding dogs, a fundamental support that has continued until today. Today's dogs are indispensable "colleagues" who guide and protect flocks and herds, becoming an essential support for all shepherds and breeders; they guard properties and participate in hunting activities, cases that are particularly delicate, as the canine contribution is subject to specific national and regional regulations, such as the prohibition for private individuals to train their dogs to bite or attack. Also, dogs serving law enforcement and the army have worked alongside humans for a long time: one can read about this the story of dogs that "fought" during the "Great War," which Apaca collected and narrated in a series of truly interesting articles. In more recent times, police dogs, drug detection dogs, and molecular dogs have arrived to support public forces, often playing a significant role in finding missing persons and assisting investigations and searches, rescue dogs used by the Alpine Rescue and Civil Protection in saving people in danger of life, beach dogs who save those in difficulty in water, often with a speed that proves vital. Like canine sports, for dogs engaged in "human" work there is specific and consistent training, which in some cases begins already with puppies belonging to selected breeds to best fulfill certain tasks based on physical and character traits. But it is not always the case! Many mixed-breed dogs also demonstrate basic abilities to cope with the numerous events and activities of the human world. The union between men and dogs, born thousands of years ago, continues unceasingly even in our fast and automated contemporary times, in which, however, they continue to trust each other and support each other, taking on difficulties, efforts, risks, and misfortunes. A bond that is also emotional, connecting them since antiquity, as recently demonstrated by the study of the Journal of Archaeological Science, analyzing the remains of a sick puppy to which a prehistoric family probably provided care. Humans take care of their dogs, but it is also true the opposite, dogs can take care of human well-being: service dogs represent a fundamental and daily support for people with physical and mental disabilities, think of guide dogs for the blind or dogs used in pet therapy sessions. The list of canine contributions to human existence could go on and on without ever being exhaustive, because wherever there is an urgency to resolve or a task to perform, there are dogs ready to lend a paw. Willing, tireless, and affectionate beings who have accompanied humans since the beginning of their endless partnership and their boundless friendship.
