Carol

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Our little Carol is a tiny gem adorned with fluffy fur. Despite her tough start in life, she has proven to be an extraordinary girl—with that extra spark. From the very beginning, she’s loved the people at the shelter and thoroughly enjoys those moments when she gets extra attention. She’s curious and attentive, always kind and respectful. Carol quickly picks up on what’s being taught to her and consistently displays a positive attitude and a radiant mood. She’ll undoubtedly bring joy to her new home. Playing with other gentle dogs is pure fun for her. Carol is an integral part of the community, confidently taking her place while also giving others space. Besides playing and running around, she can spend long stretches calmly lying by herself, working through her chew toys. Today, she lives with HH Apollo, who had been feeling a bit down—and suddenly, she managed to warm him up, and now he’s blossoming into his best self. On their cherished walks, she’s met some of the shelter’s cats and has friendly approached them, eager to get to know them better. Carol is a versatile girl with a heart of gold. We’re now looking for a safe and loving forever home for our sweet Carol—one that can cherish all her wonderful qualities. The home shouldn’t be located in a city center and should ideally be close to lovely walking areas. Carol would love to live with a cheerful and playful canine companion who could also become her support system in this new chapter of life. She could also share her home with a gentle cat. Background: Walpurgis Night and pouring rain. A young couple had been visiting relatives and were heading home along the highway. As they were about to take the exit, they suddenly spotted a small, fluffy “bunch” by the roadside. The couple, who were animal lovers, immediately pulled over, rushed to the spot, and picked up little Carol—about six weeks old and completely alone at the scene—again likely abandoned from a car, since otherwise she wouldn’t have been able to make her way there on her own. Carol was freezing so badly that she was shaking violently. Of course, there was also a touch of fear involved. The couple wrapped her up in a blanket they’d brought along and contacted SaveTheDogs, who naturally welcomed the little darling. They also sent out

About Carol

What life with Carol looks like

Carol is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Hundhjälpen in Stockholm.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇸🇪Adopting from Sweden

Swedish shelters require an adoption application and home visit. Animals are chipped, vaccinated, and sterilized. Cross-border placements within the EU use the standard pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Carol, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Carol?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hundhjälpen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Carol on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Carol if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hundhjälpen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Carol already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Carol isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hundhjälpen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Carol and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
