Adopt Carolina

Female · Puppy · 4 months

In the early January days of 2026, the Vigili found four tiny babies. Since the Canile was not able to provide round-the-clock care for such bottle babies, our partner Loredana was once again asked to take them in. Although Loredana is already working and has several other emergency babies in her care, she took the babies in. And anyone who has ever hand-raised puppy or kitten babies knows what a huge effort it involves. The babies were so small and weakened that at first it was uncertain if all four would survive. But Loredana did everything she could to help the babies make it. It was a wonderful moment when the little ones were finally able to eat on their own. And they thrived, developing well. They played and cuddled together, and it was a joy to see how happy and lively they were. Finally, when they were old and fit enough, they left their baby ward and moved into the Canile puppy house in early March, where the little puppy girl Darby was happy to have company. During our March project tour, we met Carolina, Camilla, Corinna, and Carlotta in the puppy house just a few days later. Of course, we were delighted to take in such cute and friendly puppy girls. Unfortunately, it rained heavily on our visit day, so we could only photograph and film the quartet and Darby inside the house. Carolina, Camilla, Corinna, and Carlotta feel quite at home in the puppy house and are well cared for. But after spending their baby time with a loving primary caregiver and enjoying it very much, we wish Carolina, Camilla, Corinna, and Carlotta to be in a familiar environment as soon as possible. Would you give one of these lovely puppy girls a loving home with a close family connection? Since the four little ones clearly belong to the running dog breed group, Carolina, Camilla, Corinna, and Carlotta will surely develop into great companions for active people once they are old enough. April 21, 2026: During our team project tour, we not only got to know wonderful partners, but also these four special fur noses. The siblings Carolina, Camilla, Corinna, and Carlotta have developed wonderfully – friendly, open, and full of trust. Grateful for every small affection and with open hearts ready for their own families, they eagerly await their new, loving home. May 1, 2026: Carolina traveled to her German foster home. If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and are aware that adoption means not only joy but also work and great responsibility, we look forward to your message. We provide nationwide support.

About Carolina

What life with Carolina looks like

Carolina is a large puppy/kitten dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Carolina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Carolina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Carolina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Carolina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Carolina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Carolina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Carolina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
