Adopt Poldi

English Bulldog · Male · Young · 2 years

And once again, we were approached by our long-standing private foster home, which lives near Olbia, for help: In her social circle, there is an elderly lady who is seriously ill and unfortunately can no longer adequately care for her very beloved little dog. The lady wishes very much that her Poldi can find a good new home with loving people. Poldi is a friendly little fellow. He lives in the house, loves to play in the garden, and thus knows family life well. We would like to fulfill the wish of Poldi's mistress and hope very much to find suitable people soon who can take Poldi into their family and let him participate in all family activities so that Poldi can feel loved and secure again. January 31, 2026: Poldi was allowed to travel to his German foster home. February 5, 2026: Poldi was recently allowed to travel to his foster home and immediately felt at home there. Curious, he first inspected the entire house and then grabbed all the toys he could find, of course, to carry them proudly to his dog bed. Poldi is a real cuddle bear, loves closeness and snuggling, and shows himself to be very people-oriented overall. In the garden, he really comes into his own: There he runs and plays joyfully and enjoys every minute. As soon as the foster mom takes the leash, his enthusiasm knows no bounds, and walks are the greatest thing for Poldi, his absolute passion. Currently, housekeeping is being worked on diligently, and Poldi is already making good progress. According to his breed, Poldi brings the typical characteristics of a French Bulldog: He is a charming, loving companion with compact size and friendly nature, ideal for city life as well. His playful, clingy nature makes him a wonderful family dog. Although he can sometimes be a bit stubborn, with patience, loving consistency, and the right motivation, he can be well trained. His intelligence and desire to please his human make the joint training a beautiful opportunity to build a close bond. Even though this breed is often perceived as playful, one should not forget that Poldi is a strong specimen of his kind. At 14 kilos, he brings a lot of power with him, a real power pack, even though at first glance you might not see it. Poldi is now searching for a loving home where he can arrive and explore the world with his people. March 17, 2026:

About Poldi

What life with Poldi looks like

Poldi is a young adult english bulldog dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Poldi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Poldi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Poldi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Poldi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Poldi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Poldi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Poldi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
