Adopt Caroline

Female · Kitten · 8 months

The infernal trio is looking for a home with freedom for body and soul... What? What is this lady talking about... She better watch out, let’s get our paws on her. She’ll see what she gets. But seriously! The infernal trio. We don’t think it’s working out! Did anyone even ask us if we wanted this? Well... No! Of course not. Why would they. Humans don’t have to, and then we’re the ones who have to deal with it. First, we were left to "jump" somewhere in the middle of nowhere, then caught by someone else, locked up, brought to the animal shelter, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and who knows what other nasty things they came up with. Then we got stuck in a, admittedly spacious and equipped with outdoor access, prison. The other "prison mates" share our fate. We don’t want to be here. We want out! And we explain this very clearly to everyone who passes by. Gladly more than once! And if you ask, "with a touch." But not what you might think. No, no... It works differently... And don’t come at us with weird ideas like suitable for apartment living or anything like that. Farm, barn, hallway, or something similar. That’s our thing. Definitely with hiding spots where all three of us can fit. (Preferably scratching post, cozy hideaway, etc.) and plenty of open space so we can mostly avoid these peculiar two-legged beings. We only need them for feeding or similar tasks. Otherwise, we manage just fine on our own! Any questions? Good, then get us out. All of us. Right now! Animal adoptions are currently by appointment only. Therefore, please contact us in advance by phone at 05481 / 4146 or by email.

Pfoten kommen. Die kann was erleben. Aber sowas von! Trio infernale.

About Caroline

What life with Caroline looks like

Caroline is a large puppy/kitten cat waiting at Tierheim Tecklenburger Land in Lengerich.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Caroline, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Caroline?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Tecklenburger Land handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Caroline on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Caroline if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Tecklenburger Land will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Caroline already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Caroline isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Tecklenburger Land early rather than rehoming privately; they know Caroline and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
