Adopt Fussel

Male · Adult · 5 years

The owner can no longer take care of us. A beautiful duo is looking for a new home with a spacious enclosure to play in. My name is Fussel, my best friend is called Blumi. Unfortunately, we are forced to find a new home. Our owner's circumstances have changed and we had to move into the animal shelter. However, she is very concerned about us and regularly checks if we are missing anything. The caretakers do their best, but it's not like being at home. We used to be able to move freely and had our own room. We had a little house, various elevated perches (yes, even rabbits like to have a good view), and enough space to occasionally sprint around. We would like something similar again. It doesn't have to be the whole apartment. A spacious enclosure will do just fine. Three square meters per nose (in our case, 6 square meters) are sufficient for us to feel comfortable. If you're unsure about the size, please send pictures and measurements of the same to the animal shelter. A solution can certainly be found. So that we can hop through life with you soon...... Animal adoptions are currently by appointment only. Therefore, we ask you to contact us in advance by phone at 05481 / 4146 or by email if you are interested in one of our animals.

About Fussel

What life with Fussel looks like

Fussel is a large adult rabbit waiting at Tierheim Tecklenburger Land in Lengerich.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fussel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fussel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Tecklenburger Land handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fussel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fussel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Tecklenburger Land will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fussel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fussel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Tecklenburger Land early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fussel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
